BJP Protests Karnataka Financials and Jammu Kashmir Statehood Resolution
The Bharatiya Janata Party staged separate protests in Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir over allegations of financial mismanagement and a controversial statehood resolution.
The Bharatiya Janata Party organized simultaneous protests across two Indian states on September 30, 2026, targeting regional governments over financial and constitutional disputes.
In Belagavi, Karnataka, party workers led by State vice-president Anil Benake accused the government of financial mismanagement and failing to pay contractors. Protesters gathered at Chennamma Circle with empty pots and placards, attempting to burn an effigy of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and hold a mock funeral procession. Police intervened to stop these actions, leading to clashes between party leaders and law enforcement.
Meanwhile, in Jammu, hundreds of protesters led by MP Jugal Kishore Sharma marched through Kachi Chawani to oppose a resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The resolution, moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, seeks the urgent restoration of full statehood and autonomy for the region. The BJP alleges the resolution was passed by force and used to divert attention from failures in employment and utility supplies. Protesters burned an effigy of Omar Abdullah and demanded the dissolution of the government.
