China Uses Immersive Art to Mark Long March Anniversary
China is commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Long March victory through immersive digital productions and cultural tourism initiatives across several provinces.
The Government of China is marking the 90th anniversary of the Long March victory in October 2026 by deploying immersive artistic productions to teach revolutionary history to younger generations. These initiatives aim to move the history of the Communist Party of China from static museum displays into living heritage and local economic drivers.
In Guiyang, the Red Ribbon production utilizes holographic projections and digital interaction to recreate the 1934 military odyssey, drawing over 2.6 million participants since 2023. Other large-scale works include Victory at Loushan Pass in Guizhou Province and The Long March's First Crossing in Jiangxi Province.
Local authorities are further integrating this heritage into cultural tourism through interactive performances at the Zunyi Meeting site. This economic strategy includes the branding of local goods, such as Red Army pomelos and Red Army noodles in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the latter of which are produced using techniques taught by the Red Army.
