Kalshi Partners With Weather Co. to Verify Climate Trades
Kalshi partnered with The Weather Co. to use scientific meteorological data for settling climate-prediction trades and expanding weather-related market offerings.
Kalshi partnered with The Weather Co. to integrate scientific meteorological data for verifying outcomes in climate-prediction trades. Under the agreement, The Weather Co. will provide the data used to settle trades and will display Kalshi's probability data on its app and website to show how markets price weather risk.
Kalshi expects its weather vertical to reach $1.1 billion in trading volume this year, having already reached $564 million as of July 2026. The companies plan to expand into new markets, including predictions for ski conditions and sporting events like marathons.
In a separate move to scale its operations, Kalshi recently partnered with Cantor Fitzgerald to arrange block trades across various prediction markets. Will Brackett, head of partnerships at Kalshi, described weather as a "quintessential prediction-market category," while James Belanger, vice president of meteorology at The Weather Co., stated that the priority is ensuring settlements rest on "objective, scientifically validated atmospheric data."
