Jeff Bezos Led Consortium Buys 38% Stake in Liverpool FC
Jeff Bezos and 1892 Holdings purchased a 38% stake in Liverpool Football Club from Fenway Sports Group for approximately £2 billion.
An investment consortium known as 1892 Holdings has acquired a 38% stake in Liverpool Football Club from Fenway Sports Group for approximately £2 billion ($2.7 billion). Led by Jeff Bezos, the group includes Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and businessman Amit Bhatia.
The investment arrives during a period of instability for the club, which finished fifth in the Premier League last season and recently dismissed manager Arne Slot. The deal is structured as a long-term strategic bet, providing the consortium an option to purchase majority control of the club within 12 months.
Bezos described the investment as part of a long-term philosophy inspired by Warren Buffett. He emphasized the importance of deferred gratification and a multi-year outlook over short-term gains to maintain a competitive advantage.
