PDP Chieftain Daniel Osi Orbih Dies at 64

Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, the National Vice Chairman for the South-South region of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), died on August 31, 2026, at the age of 64. The Orbih family announced his passing in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, noting that he died after a brief illness.

Orbih held several high-profile leadership roles, including Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Group Board. He also served as a member of the Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt and as the PDP State Chairman in Edo.

Following the announcement, political leaders issued tributes to the deceased. Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike described Orbih as a committed political ally and a "friend indeed," while Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo praised him as a bridge-builder. Former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki highlighted Orbih's contributions to the development of the PDP both within Edo State and across Nigeria.

The PDP leadership formally mourned the loss through a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong. Interim National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki characterized Orbih as a loyal member who made substantial contributions to the party across various leadership positions. Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih, and two children.
