Ivory Coast Sets Cocoa Farmgate Price at 1,200 CFA

The government of Côte d'Ivoire has set the fixed farmgate price for cocoa farmers at 1,200 CFA francs, or approximately $2.12 per kg, for the 2026/27 main crop season. Agriculture Minister Bruno Kone announced the decision on Tuesday, coinciding with the launch of the main crop season which is scheduled to run until February 28, 2027.

This rate remains unchanged from the mid-crop price established in March. That March reduction had lowered the rate from a previous record of 2,800 CFA francs per kg to stimulate sales after a sharp retreat in global prices. The current decision affects approximately 1.1 million farmers in the world's largest cocoa-producing nation.

The government opted to hold the price steady despite a recent climb in global cocoa prices, which have risen above £4,800 ($6,500) per ton. While Ghana is also expected to keep its farmgate price unchanged for the new season, its official price has not yet been announced.
