Multiple US States Set Voter Deadlines for November Election
Voters across New Mexico, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, and Tennessee face varying registration deadlines and early voting schedules ahead of the November 3 general election.
Voters in several states are preparing for the general election on November 3, 2026, with registration deadlines and early voting windows opening across the country. In Texas and Tennessee, the registration deadline is Monday, October 5. The Texas Secretary of State announced that individuals affected by a registration backlog involving the Texas Department of Public Safety may cast provisional ballots if their applications were submitted by the deadline.
Other states have later deadlines, including North Carolina on October 9 and New Jersey on October 13. New Jersey residents can register via the Division of Elections portal, by mail, or in person at agencies such as the DMV. Early in-person voting will run from October 24 through November 1 at more than 150 locations in New Jersey.
In New Mexico, early voting begins October 6 at the Taos County Courthouse. Local contests in Taos County include a race for assessor between Democrat Christina Ramirez and Republican Douglas True, as well as a proposed gross receipts tax increase. North Carolina will offer early in-person voting from October 15 through October 31, while Tennessee's early voting period runs from October 14 through October 29.
