Denver Johnson Petitions UK to Lower Pension Age to 60

Denver Johnson launched a petition demanding that the Government of the United Kingdom lower the State Pension eligibility age to 60. The campaign seeks to ensure financial security for all individuals aged 60 and over, including expatriates, as the current eligibility age continues to rise.

The proposal calls for pension payments to be linked to the National Living Wage. Specifically, the petition suggests a universal payment equivalent to 48 hours of work at the National Living Wage, which would total £610.08 per week, or approximately £31,724 per year.

The petition closed on August 10, 2026, having gathered more than 7,000 signatures. Campaigners argue that the benefit has become increasingly difficult to access for millions of people due to the rising age requirements.
