Microsoft Corporation Launches Xbox Backward Compatibility for Windows 11
Microsoft Corporation launched a backward compatibility program enabling original Xbox games to run natively on Windows 11 PCs and handheld devices.
Microsoft Corporation launched Xbox Backward Compatibility for PC on July 22, 2026, allowing original Xbox titles to run natively on Windows 11 PCs and handheld devices. The program begins with four titles: BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy. These games are available via purchase or Xbox Game Pass, and existing digital console licenses carry over to the PC platform.
To improve gameplay on modern hardware, the company implemented customizable graphics settings, including VSync support, anisotropic filtering, and 4x resolution upscaling. Jason Ronald, VP of Next Generation at Xbox, described the initiative as the start of a wider preservation effort to bring legacy titles to PC.
Microsoft Corporation also announced that achievements will be added to select original Xbox games on both console and PC later this year. The initial four titles are scheduled to receive these updates in the coming months.
