Nvidia Hits $5 Trillion Market Cap Amid AI Expansion
Nvidia has become the world's largest company by market capitalization as it diversifies its AI hardware portfolio ahead of its August 26 earnings report.
Nvidia has become the world's largest company, with its market capitalization exceeding $5 trillion and reaching approximately $5.25 trillion, surpassing Apple's $4.5 trillion valuation. This growth is driven by intense demand for artificial intelligence chips, and analysts suggest the company's valuation could reach $6 trillion by the end of 2026 if upcoming financial results are strong.
To sustain this trajectory through 2030, the company is diversifying beyond graphics processing units into custom AI processors, optical networking, and server central processing units. This strategy includes the launch of the Vera server CPU, which targets a $200 billion addressable market and is expected to generate $20 billion in revenue this year. To support these goals, Nvidia invested $2 billion in Marvell Technology for custom AI processor integration into its NVLink Fusion platform and partnered with Ayar Labs in June to improve optical interconnect technology.
The company is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings on August 26. While Nvidia projects revenue of $91 billion, market analysts suggest the actual figure could reach between $93 billion and $94 billion. Such a result would represent a doubling of the $46.7 billion generated during the same quarter last year. Long-term projections indicate that if revenue grows at 15% through fiscal 2031, the company's market cap could nearly reach $11 trillion by 2030.
