IAG Launches Final €500 Million Share Buyback Program

International Consolidated Airlines Group is initiating a €500 million share buyback to complete a larger €1.5 billion shareholder return plan.

International Consolidated Airlines Group announced a €500 million share buyback program starting October 5, 2026. This initiative marks the final phase of a €1.5 billion plan to return excess cash to shareholders, a strategy the company first introduced in February 2026.

The program aims to acquire up to 210 million ordinary shares, representing approximately 4.55% of the company's issued share capital, by February 26, 2027. Morgan Stanley Europe SE and Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE will execute the purchases across the London and Spanish stock exchanges.

Qatar Airways Group Q.C.S.C., which holds a 25.1434% stake in the company, will participate on a pro rata basis to maintain its voting rights. To facilitate this, Qatar Airways will sell shares directly to the executing banks rather than on the open market. The company has allocated €374 million for general market purchases and €126 million specifically for shares from Qatar Airways.
