NVIDIA Announces Jetson Orin Nano 2 for Edge AI

NVIDIA Corporation unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano 2, a power-efficient robotics computer designed to run large AI models locally on drones and home robots.

NVIDIA Corporation announced the Jetson Orin Nano 2, a robotics computer tailored for entry-level edge AI applications. The new system provides 78 trillion operations per second of AI compute, 8GB of memory, and an 8-core Arm CPU, allowing developers to run large language and vision models locally on devices without cloud connectivity.

The hardware delivers twice the inference performance of the previous generation while reducing power consumption by 40% in 15-watt mode. Deepu Talla, NVIDIA's Vice President of Robotics and Edge AI, stated that the computer provides the performance and energy efficiency required for real-time reasoning at the edge.

Early adopters include Cognex and Doosan Bobcat, while Matic Robotics plans to use the platform for conversational AI and autonomous cleaning in home environments. Additionally, Wing Aviation, a subsidiary of Alphabet, will evaluate the hardware to enhance real-time AI perception and autonomous navigation for its drone delivery fleet. The module and developer kit are scheduled for release in the first half of 2027.
