Reform UK Councillor Accused of Comparing Volunteer to Nazi
Reform UK councillor Carl Johnson faces a formal complaint after allegedly comparing a volunteer English teacher for asylum seekers to a Nazi collaborator.
A formal complaint has been filed against Carl Johnson, a Reform UK councillor, following a heated Wethersfield parish council meeting on October 14. Mair Godley, a 78-year-old volunteer who teaches English to asylum seekers at a former military base, alleges that Johnson compared her to a Nazi collaborator during the session.
Godley reports that Johnson accused her of "facilitating the invasion" and claimed that by assisting migrants, she might as well have been helping Germany during the Second World War. The confrontation escalated until Johnson was asked to leave the meeting to restore order. Nick Godley, Mair's husband and former chair of the parish council, subsequently filed a formal complaint with the Essex County Council.
Essex County Council stated it does not comment on complaints until investigations are complete. Neither Reform UK nor Johnson have responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.
