Zuckerberg and Benioff Donate Millions for Hawaii Storm Recovery

Wealthy landowners in Hawaii have provided varying levels of financial support following a historic storm season marked by intense Kona lows and Hurricanes Lala and Lowell. Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan donated $2.3 million to the Hawaii Community Foundation's Kauai Strong Fund and other grassroots organizations to support recovery on Kauai, where Hurricane Lowell destroyed homes and cut power.

Marc Benioff contributed $1 million to the Stronger Hawaii fund and $250,000 through Donors Choose for teachers affected by spring flooding. Benioff also provided equipment to the Hawaii Fire Department. Michael Dell collaborated with Benioff on additional storm relief donations.

Other prominent landowners, including Larry Ellison, Pierre Omidyar, and Oprah Winfrey, did not respond to inquiries regarding their contributions. The relief efforts follow significant damage across the islands, including the closure of the port on Lanai and widespread destruction on Hawaii Island caused by Hurricane Lala.
