India Presents Women and Child Development Strategies at UN

India presented its women- and child-centered development strategies during the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. Urooj Manzoor, the RSKS India Representative, detailed national programs focusing on nutrition, maternal support, and economic participation.

Manzoor highlighted the Anganwadi network, which serves over 7.5 crore children and 1.10 crore women, and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which provided ₹20,571 crore in maternity benefits to 4.37 crore beneficiaries as of July 2026. She also reported that 1.11 crore women received assistance through One Stop Centres and Women Helplines via Mission Shakti by January 2026.

The presentation emphasized the use of digital governance through the Poshan Tracker and the expansion of women-led entrepreneurship via Self-Help Groups. Manzoor called for international cooperation to accelerate measurable actions for the protection and empowerment of women and children, stating that "true national development is driven by the architects of our future — women and children."
