WestJet Cancels 10 Canada-US Flight Routes for Winter Season

WestJet is canceling 10 flight routes from Canada to the United States for the 2026/27 winter season. The airline is cutting five routes originating from Vancouver International Airport, including service to Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Lihue, and Orlando. These specific Vancouver routes were eliminated because they did not generate sufficient demand to be sustainable during the winter months.

In addition to the cancellations, WestJet is reducing its weekly flights to Los Angeles by 10. Delta Air Lines will take over the Vancouver to Los Angeles route starting November 21, 2026. Other cuts affect flights departing from Toronto, Regina, Saskatoon, and two locations in Alberta.

WestJet spokesperson Julia Kaiser stated that the company continually evaluates its network to ensure aircraft are deployed where there is the strongest demand. She noted that decisions to adjust the network are not made lightly and acknowledged the news may be disappointing to guests and affected communities. The airline is directing impacted passengers to utilize its global hub in Calgary or available codeshare and interline partners to reach these destinations.
