Israel's National Insurance Institute Reports 87,286 War Victims
The National Insurance Institute released data detailing 87,286 victims and billions in compensation payments following the October 7 massacre and subsequent hostilities.
The National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance released data on Sunday detailing the human and financial toll of the war following the October 7 massacre. Over a nearly three-year period, the agency recorded 87,286 individuals as victims of hostile acts. Of those, 40,407 have been granted disability status, with psychological trauma accounting for 34,878 of those cases.
The data identifies 1,029 murdered civilians, including 88 foreign nationals and 63 minors. The institute also recorded 1,216 orphans and 1,204 parents who lost children during the conflict.
Financially, the institute has paid more than NIS 6.3 billion to victims, bereaved families, and the families of hostages. Reserve-duty compensation payments exceeded NIS 58 billion. Additionally, the agency provided unemployment benefits to hundreds of thousands of civilians during Operation Lion’s Roar in February 2026 and Operation Rising Lion in June 2025.
