BC Political Parties Race to Fill 93 Riding Slots

Major political parties in British Columbia are on track to field candidates in all 93 ridings before the October 3 nomination deadline. As of September 30, Elections BC listed 43 official candidates for the BC New Democratic Party and 32 for the BC Conservative Party, although both organizations claim their actual numbers are higher than the official registry.

Smaller parties face significant challenges in filling their slots. The Green Party of British Columbia has registered seven candidates, while CentreBC and OneBC have only one candidate each.

CentreBC and OneBC both formed as splinter groups from the BC Conservative Party following internal disagreements that emerged after the 2024 election.
