Samsung and SK Hynix Shares Rally on Temasek Investment Report
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix shares rose over 8% after reports that Singapore's Temasek Holdings plans to invest in the South Korean chipmakers.
Temasek Holdings Pte, the state fund of Singapore, is reportedly planning to invest in South Korean chipmakers Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Hynix Inc. According to a report from Asia Business Daily, the fund is currently determining the timing of these investments and intends to execute them using its internal investment team.
Shares of both Samsung and SK Hynix rallied more than 8% following the news, contributing to a roughly 5% gain for the Kospi index. This surge follows a period of volatility in July, when chipmaker stocks faced a significant selloff due to investor concerns regarding the pace of AI infrastructure development.
Temasek Holdings Pte has not provided an immediate comment regarding the report.
