IFC Provides $50 Million Debt Facility to InfraCredit
The International Finance Corporation provided a $50 million debt facility to InfraCredit to mobilize long-term local-currency financing for Nigerian infrastructure projects.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has provided a $50 million subordinated unsecured 10-year debt facility to the Infrastructure Credit Guarantee Company Plc (InfraCredit). Formalized in Lagos, the fully committed facility will be disbursed in two tranches of $25 million each.
The investment is supported by the Concessional Capital Window and the International Development Association Private Sector Window Blended Finance Facility. It aims to strengthen InfraCredit's capital structure and increase its capacity to mobilize long-term local-currency financing for critical Nigerian sectors, including renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, digital infrastructure, telecommunications, healthcare, and transportation.
Since 2017, InfraCredit has facilitated over NGN600 billion in financing for 28 projects and supported 14 first-time issuers in the domestic debt capital market. The partnership seeks to drive economic growth and job creation by attracting domestic institutional investors, such as pension fund administrators, to sustainable infrastructure projects.
