Anthropic Negotiates $6 Billion Acquisition of Decart AI
Anthropic is in early talks to acquire Decart AI for $6 billion to reduce computing costs and optimize chip efficiency for its Claude AI model.
Anthropic PBC is in early negotiations to acquire Decart AI, an Israeli startup specializing in AI infrastructure and generative video, for approximately $6 billion. If finalized, the deal would be Anthropic's largest acquisition to date, significantly exceeding its previous $400 million purchase of Coefficient Bio.
The acquisition aims to lower the computing and training costs of the Claude AI model as Anthropic prepares for an initial public offering. Decart AI provides the Decart Optimization Stack (DOS), which improves chip efficiency across hardware from Nvidia, Google, Amazon, and AMD. The startup also develops generative video world models, including Lucy for real-time video manipulation and virtual clothing try-ons, and Oasis for robotics and autonomous system simulations.
Founded in 2023 by engineers Dean Leitersdorf, Orian Leitersdorf, and Moshe Shalev, Decart AI was valued at nearly $4 billion following a $300 million funding round in May 2026 led by Radical Ventures. The proposed $6 billion price tag represents a 50% increase over that valuation. The potential deal comes amid Anthropic's broader compute expansion, including agreements with SpaceX, Riot Platforms, and TeraWulf, and chip development talks with Samsung.
While some reports suggested SpaceX was interested in the startup, Elon Musk dismissed those claims as "fake news." Representatives for both Anthropic and Decart have declined to comment, and no formal agreement has been signed.
