Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins Outraises Republican Rivals in Alaska Governor Race
Democratic candidate Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins raised $2.1 million, exceeding the combined fundraising of his three Republican opponents in the Alaska gubernatorial race.
Democratic candidate Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins has secured a substantial financial lead in the Alaska gubernatorial race, raising $2.1 million between August 9 and early October. This total surpasses the combined $852,000 raised by his three Republican opponents: Bernadette Wilson, Treg Taylor, and Dave Bronson. Kreiss-Tomkins currently holds over $1.1 million in remaining funds, while the Republican candidates combined have less than $350,000.
Funding for Kreiss-Tomkins comes from a combination of small-dollar Alaskan donors and wealthy out-of-state contributors, including several six-figure donations from Minnesota and California. He attributes this financial strength to voter desire for lower costs in energy, housing, childcare, and healthcare, as well as a preference for a governor willing to work across party lines.
The Republican field remains divided. While Bernadette Wilson has called for her opponents to withdraw from the race, Dave Bronson and Treg Taylor have collaborated on a joint advertisement urging supporters to rank other Republicans under the state's ranked-choice voting system. Recent polling suggests Kreiss-Tomkins is positioned to receive the highest share of first-place votes, though the final outcome may depend on ranked-choice tabulation if no candidate secures a 50% majority.
