Russia Offers to Mediate Peace Talks Between Iran and United States

Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov announced that Russia is prepared to act as a mediator in peace talks between Iran and the United States. Ulyanov stated that the primary objectives of both nations—preventing a nuclear-armed Iran and securing sanctions relief—cannot be achieved through military force.

While Ulyanov noted that a renewal of direct dialogue between Washington and Tehran appears improbable, he asserted that Iran would welcome Russian mediation. He criticized the current American approach, stating that the Americans are actually handling this very poorly.

The United States has indicated that it does not require intermediaries and believes it can manage the situation independently. Despite this rejection, Ulyanov maintained that Russia is ready to provide mediation services if necessary.
