India Reaffirms Two-State Solution During Diplomatic Visit to Palestine
Sripriya Ranganathan visited Palestine and Egypt to deliver medical aid, launch health projects, and reiterate India's support for a negotiated two-state solution.
Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Sripriya Ranganathan conducted a diplomatic tour of Egypt, Palestine, and Lebanon from August 16-21, 2026, to strengthen bilateral ties and address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. During her visit to Ramallah and Jerusalem between August 18-20, Ranganathan met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa and Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin to advocate for a negotiated two-state solution and unhindered humanitarian assistance for civilians.
India's engagement focused on expanding development partnerships in health, education, and skills. Ranganathan delivered a consignment of medicines to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, visited a UNRWA Health Centre, and participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a 200-bed super-speciality hospital in Jenin. Additionally, India signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a vocational training centre and reviewed the progress of the India-funded Palestinian Institute of Diplomacy.
Beyond Palestine, Ranganathan met with Khalid Manzalawi of the League of Arab States to advance the Executive Programme 2026-28 and addressed the India-Egypt BRICS Partnership Conference in Cairo to outline priorities for India's 2026 BRICS Chairship. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal later emphasized India's commitment to the two-state solution and the urgent need for sustained aid in Gaza.
