China Commemorates 90th Anniversary of the Long March

The Government of China is commemorating the 90th anniversary in October 2026 of the Long March, a strategic redeployment conducted by the Red Army from October 1934 to October 1936. Led by the Communist Party of China, the military force outmaneuvered Kuomintang pursuers across harsh terrain, eventually ending the journey in Gansu Province.
Officials characterize the march as a turning point that saved the Chinese revolution and fundamentally reshaped the development of the country. Commemorative events are currently taking place across China to honor the historic journey.
