Ford Launches Universal EV Platform and Battery Energy Business
Ford Motor Company is introducing a universal EV platform and a new energy storage division to reverse a decade of stagnant stock growth.
Ford Motor Company is implementing a strategic pivot to reverse a decade of stagnant stock growth, which saw an increase of only 7%. The automaker is developing a Universal EV Platform and a new assembly tree production process scheduled for implementation next year.
This platform will first be used in an affordable $30,000 midsize electric truck targeted for an early 2027 release. The initiative aims to lower production costs and increase competitiveness against Chinese manufacturers. To maintain investor value during this transition, the company currently provides a 4.25% dividend yield.
Parallel to its vehicle strategy, the company launched Ford Energy, a division focused on battery energy storage systems for data centers. The new unit plans to deploy approximately 20 gigawatt-hours annually, with the first customer deliveries expected in late 2027. Analysts estimate that Ford Energy could generate $3 billion in incremental revenue and $500 million in operating profit by 2030.
