DOE Allocates $42 Million for Constitution Pipeline Project
The U.S. Department of Energy is providing $42 million to advance a 125-mile natural gas pipeline from Pennsylvania to New York.
The U.S. Department of Energy is allocating up to $42 million in Defense Production Act Title III funding to advance the Constitution Pipeline. Led by Constitution Pipeline Company, LLC, the proposed 125-mile project will extend from Pennsylvania to New York to transport low-cost natural gas to Northeast markets.
Federal officials stated the project aims to reduce electricity and home heating costs while mitigating blackout risks during peak demand. The funding will support pre-construction and permitting activities, including engineering and environmental reviews. This investment follows Presidential Determination No. 2026-12, which classifies natural gas infrastructure as essential to national defense.
Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said the project fulfills a promise by President Trump to reverse previous energy policies and lower costs. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum characterized the investment as a reversal of failed anti-energy policies that have previously hindered production and increased costs for families and businesses in blue states.
