Roblox Launches AI Tools and Standalone App Distribution
Roblox CEO David Baszucki introduced AI-driven creation tools and allowed developers to publish their games as standalone apps across multiple platforms.
David Baszucki, CEO of Roblox, announced a series of AI-driven creation tools and platform expansions during the company's developer conference. The centerpiece of the update is Roblox Build, a feature that enables users to create 2D and 3D games, puzzles, and obbies directly within the mobile app. This tool is currently undergoing testing in New Zealand.
Baszucki compared the impact of AI acceleration to the transition from analog to digital, stating, "We believe on the Roblox platform and and, you know, arguably, we're discussing, this worldwide. We're gonna see more creators, not fewer."
To reduce distribution barriers, Roblox will now permit creators to publish their games as standalone apps on PC, consoles, and mobile platforms, including the iOS App Store. Baszucki reported that platform creators earned $1.7 billion over the last twelve months, noting significant growth in Japan, India, and among users aged 18 and older.
