Aldi Cuts Prices on Third of Inventory to Save Shoppers $86 Million

Aldi reduced prices on nearly one-third of its everyday products nationwide to provide an estimated $86 million in customer savings through November 3.

The discount grocer Aldi reduced prices on nearly one-third of its everyday in-store assortment starting September 23, 2026. The company estimates the initiative will provide U.S. shoppers with approximately $86 million in total savings. The reductions, which apply nationwide and remain in effect until at least November 3, target fall staples, organic products, and lean proteins.

Notable price cuts include Honeycrisp apples and Kirkwood chicken breast family packs, both priced at $1.99 per pound. The chicken breast price represents the lowest cost for the item since 2022. Other discounted items include grapes, pears, potatoes, coffee, paper towels, and protein shakes. The initiative excludes rotating seasonal items and Aldi Finds.

These cuts come as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a 2.2% year-over-year increase in food-at-home prices. Broader economic pressures contributing to rising costs include supply chain disruptions, the war in Ukraine, and a conflict in Iran that has disrupted fuel shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Aldi joins other retailers, including Walmart, Kroger, Costco, and Stop & Shop, in lowering prices to attract inflation-weary consumers who are buying less food.
