Prysmian Signs €5.5 Billion Fiber Supply Deal With Molex
Prysmian signed a 10-year agreement with Molex to supply optical cables for AI data centers, supported by a €1.25 billion production expansion.
The Italian cable manufacturer Prysmian has signed a 10-year supply agreement worth up to €5.5 billion with Molex, an electronics company owned by the U.S.-based Koch group. Under the terms of the deal, Prysmian's Digital Solutions arm will provide fiber optic cables for internal wiring within AI data centers. The agreement includes a rare €550 million upfront payment from Molex.
To fulfill this contract and other agreements with hyperscalers, Prysmian will invest €1.25 billion through 2031 to expand its optical cable and fiber production in Europe and the United States. This investment will more than double the company's fiber capacity in the U.S. and is expected to create 1,000 new jobs globally, including 600 positions in the U.S.
This partnership is part of a broader strategy to support AI-driven infrastructure and energy efficiency in data centers. Prysmian expects its data center initiatives to generate annual revenues of up to €1.1 billion by 2031 and cumulative additional revenue of €10 billion by 2035 compared to 2025 levels.
