Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Breaks Assembly Seating Convention

Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay abandoned his designated chair to sit among ministers during a Tamil Nadu assembly session, breaking long-standing seating protocols.

C Joseph Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, broke long-standing assembly convention on Thursday by abandoning his designated chair during an afternoon session. Instead of occupying the separate seat typically positioned near Speaker J C D Prabhakar, Vijay sat in the front row between ministers K A Sengottaiyan and Aadhav Arjuna.

While members of the 234-member House occasionally shift seats for brief interactions, Vijay's decision to remain seated among the ministers was noted as unusual. The assembly traditionally maintains a strict seating arrangement where the chief minister is separated from the ministers, who are otherwise seated according to seniority.
