AirJoule Deploys Atmospheric Water Tech for AI Data Centers

AirJoule Technologies Corporation is deploying atmospheric water generation technology to address water scarcity and regulatory challenges facing AI data centers. The company's Prime system produces up to 2,000 liters of distilled water daily from the air, allowing operators to reduce reliance on local water supplies and avoid difficult permitting processes.

CEO Matthew Jore noted during a Q2 2026 earnings call that opposition to data centers has "gone mainstream," citing a New York moratorium on permits for facilities exceeding 50 megawatts as a primary example of current regulatory friction. To address these hurdles, AirJoule is running a field demo and negotiating a formal water purchase agreement with Nexus Data Centers for a hyperscale campus in Hubbard, Texas.

To scale commercialization, AirJoule has partnered with GE Vernova and Carrier Global. The company also granted Kubota exclusive sales rights for housing in Texas and California. Financially, AirJoule expects its 2026 cash expenditure to increase to between $27 million and $28 million. Beyond the commercial sector, the company maintains a three-year research agreement with the United States Army to develop water systems for forward-deployed troops.
