Democratic Candidates Campaign for Wisconsin Gubernatorial Primary

Democratic candidates for the Wisconsin gubernatorial nomination are conducting final campaign stops before the primary election on Tuesday, August 11. State Representative Francesca Hong currently leads the polling field, centering her platform on raising wages and legalizing marijuana.

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley follows Hong in the polls after re-entering the race in July with the endorsement of Governor Tony Evers. Other candidates in the primary include State Senator Kelda Roys and former Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennan, both of whom have polled in the low single digits.

The winner of the Democratic primary will face U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany, the presumptive Republican nominee, in the November general election. While the Democratic field emphasizes affordability plans and governing experience, Tiffany has focused his campaign on opposing "big government socialism" and presenting himself as a relatable everyman.
