Microsoft Developing AI Super App to Consolidate Copilot Tools

Microsoft is creating an AI super app to unify its Copilot experiences, including coding and autonomous agents, for release later this year.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, confirmed during a Wednesday earnings call that the company is developing an AI super app scheduled for release later this year. The platform will consolidate various Copilot experiences into a single interface, integrating chat, GitHub Copilot for coding, Cowork, and autonomous agents known as Autopilots.

Designed for both consumer and commercial users, the super app aims to serve as a flagship tool for professional roles to minimize the need for switching between separate AI applications. Microsoft currently maintains over 30 million paid Copilot seats.

This development follows a May report by Fortune and positions Microsoft in direct competition with OpenAI's ChatGPT Work and Anthropic's Claude, both of which provide unified AI toolsets.
