Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of Manipulating Uttar Pradesh Voter Lists
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged the BJP is using fake votes to manipulate electoral rolls ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring to manipulate electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh by adding fake votes and deleting genuine opposition supporters. Speaking from the party headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav urged workers to remain vigilant at polling booths to prevent what he termed vote theft.
On October 19, Yadav provided a specific example of irregularities, claiming a woman named Phoolmati Suraj had multiple entries in the voter lists. He questioned the involvement of a private company in handling these lists and noted that a party worker had already submitted the discrepancy to the Booth Level Officer for correction. He called on the Election Commission to ensure such errors are not exploited by the BJP.
Beyond electoral concerns, Yadav criticized the BJP government for corruption, the closure of over 26,000 primary schools, and failures to stop state examination paper leaks. He asserted that the PDA community—comprising backward classes, Dalits, and minorities—is united against government harassment.
To address these groups, the Samajwadi Party will release its Jan-Man Manifesto, titled the Resolve of Twenty-Seven, on November 26, 2026. The launch is timed to coincide with Constitution Day and aims to represent the aspirations of the PDA ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
