Swedish and Finnish Jets Intercept Russian Aircraft in Gulf of Finland

Swedish and Finnish fighter jets intercepted a group of Russian military aircraft, including fighter jets and a transport plane, in international airspace over the Gulf of Finland on Thursday. The operation was conducted under a joint Finnish-Swedish framework for airspace monitoring.

This encounter follows warnings from the Defence Intelligence Service of Denmark, which stated that Russia is likely to intensify hybrid warfare against the West and NATO in the coming months. The agency warned of a growing risk of limited military attacks, including drone or missile strikes on infrastructure supporting Ukraine or the deployment of troops into NATO border areas to divide the alliance.

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Denmark rejected these assessments, denying involvement in hybrid warfare or sabotage and accusing Western nations of driving up tensions over Ukraine.
