Walmex Misses Q3 Profit Estimates Amid Rising Costs
Walmart de México y Centroamérica reported a 6% drop in third-quarter net profit as operational investments and staffing costs outpaced sales growth.
The Mexico unit of Walmart, Walmart de México y Centroamérica, missed third-quarter profit estimates for the July-September period. Net profit fell 6% to 11.03 billion pesos ($610 million), failing to reach the 12.26 billion pesos projected by analysts. While total revenue grew 3% from the previous year to 248.83 billion pesos, the figure remained below forecasts.
Chief Financial Officer Camilo Canedo attributed the margin pressure to increased spending on new stores, technology, staffing, and e-commerce. Despite the profit decline, the company saw strong growth in its digital channels, with online gross merchandise value increasing 15% in Mexico and 23% in Central America.
Walmex reaffirmed its 2026 guidance, projecting consolidated sales growth between 3.5% and 4.5% in constant currency.
