China Increases Gasoline and Diesel Retail Prices
The National Development and Reform Commission raised retail prices for gasoline and diesel effective July 18 following a rise in international crude oil costs.
The National Development and Reform Commission announced that China will increase retail prices for gasoline and diesel starting Saturday, July 18, 2026. Gasoline prices will rise by 300 yuan per tonne, approximately 44.16 U.S. dollars, while diesel prices will increase by 290 yuan per tonne.
The adjustment follows a rise in average international crude oil prices during the ten working days prior to the announcement, which was driven by volatile gains linked to renewed tensions in the Middle East.
To ensure market stability and supply, the government directed the China National Petroleum Corporation, the China Petrochemical Corporation, the China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and other refineries to maintain production and facilitate transportation. Regional departments have been tasked with intensifying market supervision to prevent violations of national pricing policies.
