Titan Mining to Build Graphite Plant at Anniston Army Depot

Empire State Mines will finance and operate a graphite processing facility on U.S. Army land in Alabama to boost domestic critical mineral capacity.

Empire State Mines, a subsidiary of Titan Mining Corporation, signed a preliminary agreement with the U.S. Department of the Army to develop a graphite processing facility at the Anniston Army Depot in Alabama. The Canadian-owned company will finance, build, and operate the plant on approximately 97 acres of underutilized Army property.

The facility will produce Purified Micronized Graphite for industrial, defense, and battery applications, with plans to eventually produce Coated Spherical Purified Graphite for lithium-ion battery anodes. The agreement establishes a lease framework with an initial 50-year term and options to extend the lease up to 100 years.

Under the terms of the deal, the U.S. Army retains a right of first offer on up to 10 percent of the facility's annual production. The project supports broader U.S. initiatives to increase domestic processing capacity for critical minerals required for national defense and industrial use.
