Israeli Military Strikes Kill Palestinians in Gaza Strip

The Israeli military conducted drone and artillery strikes across the Gaza Strip, killing at least two Palestinians and violating an October 2025 ceasefire.

The Israeli military conducted a series of drone strikes, artillery attacks, and demolition operations across the Gaza Strip on August 22, 2026. These actions violated a ceasefire agreement established in October 2025 and occurred despite calls from U.S. President Donald Trump for an end to the strikes.

In Deir el-Balah, a drone strike targeting the al-Hasanat family killed one person and injured several others, while other operations in the area involved home demolitions. Military activity also included the shelling of displaced persons' camps in Khan Younis, artillery attacks in Bureij, and an attack near ad-Dawa Street in Nuseirat that wounded a woman. In Gaza City, forces expanded military-controlled zones and demolished infrastructure.

The Ministry of Health of Gaza reported that at least two Palestinians were killed over a 48-hour period. The total death toll since the October 2025 ceasefire began was updated from 1,283 to 1,285, with injuries exceeding 4,248.

United Nations agencies and peacekeepers report a catastrophic humanitarian situation, stating that 94 percent of households require shelter aid. More than 80 percent of families face critical living conditions without fuel or energy, and nearly two-thirds are living in deteriorating tents or makeshift shelters.
