Sadiq Khan Agrees to Digital Search in Palantir Lawsuit

London Mayor Sadiq Khan agreed to have his emails, text messages, and other digital communications searched as part of a High Court legal battle with technology firm Palantir. The dispute centers on a May decision by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime to block a £50 million, two-year contract between Palantir and the Metropolitan Police for AI technology designed to automate intelligence analysis.

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime argues the Metropolitan Police committed a clear and serious breach of procurement rules by considering only one supplier for the deal. Palantir contends the veto was unlawful and based on the company's values and ethics rather than procedure, accusing Khan of "putting politics above public safety."

In addition to the mayor, Sarah Brown, the current director of communications at Downing Street and former communications director for Khan, will also have her correspondence searched. A full hearing on the matter is scheduled for January 2027.
