Vandemoortele Acquires Full Ownership of US Bakery Banneton
Vandemoortele has acquired the remaining 20% stake in Banneton to establish a domestic US production footprint in New Jersey.
The Belgium-based frozen bakery and plant-based ingredients company Vandemoortele has acquired the remaining 20% stake in the US bakery Banneton. This transaction follows a previous 80% interest purchase in 2024, giving the company full ownership of the business. Financial terms for the final acquisition were not disclosed.
Vandemoortele intends to use Banneton's manufacturing facility in Swedesboro, New Jersey, to establish a domestic US production footprint and streamline logistics. The company will retain the Banneton brand. Alexandre Bloch, formerly of Vandemoortele's France unit, has been appointed as the new operations manager.
This move aligns with a broader expansion strategy that included the purchase of Délifrance, although that specific deal has faced regulatory challenges from the European Commission and the UK's Competition and Markets Authority.
