Ed Yardeni Predicts AI Investment Boom Through 2030
Market analyst Ed Yardeni urges investor optimism in AI despite volatility, citing $235 billion in planned financing and strong infrastructure demand.
Market analyst Ed Yardeni argues that investors should remain optimistic about the artificial intelligence sector despite recent market volatility and disappointing third-quarter results from Alphabet. While Microsoft has scaled back its AI capital expenditure forecast for the year, Yardeni points to a collective $235 billion in AI financing as evidence of continued growth.
This financing includes a potential $100 billion IPO from Anthropic, anticipated stock sales from Meta Platforms Incorporated totaling $95 billion, and a plan by Space Exploration Technologies Corp. to borrow $40 billion for GPU purchases. Yardeni notes that Anthropic's economics are improving, with first-half revenues surging to $16.3 billion.
Further supporting the sustainability of the boom through 2030 is the performance of SK Hynix. The South Korean chipmaker reported strong third-quarter earnings and projected memory shortages, which Yardeni cites as a sign of durable infrastructure demand.
