APC Establishes 2027 Campaign Councils in Ogun and Lagos

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has established campaign councils in Ogun and Lagos states to coordinate mobilization for the 2027 general elections. In Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun was named Chairman of a 156-member council, with Senator Solomon Adeola as co-chair and Senator Lekan Mustapha as Director-General. The party appointed national leader Olusegun Osoba as Grand Patron, while former governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun were named Deputy Grand Patrons.

Governor Abiodun formally inaugurated the Ogun council on September 17 in Abeokuta, declaring campaign activities open across 20 local government areas and 236 wards. He urged members to prioritize scientific planning over political reputation and warned against internal sabotage. Despite the goal of party unity, former governors Daniel and Amosun were absent from the inauguration. The campaign will focus on securing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governorship candidate Senator Olamilekan Adeola, while highlighting projects like the Gateway International Airport.

Simultaneously, the APC announced its Lagos State structure, appointing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Chairman of both the campaign and Advisory councils. Former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode will serve as Co-Chairmen of the Advisory Council, with Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as Deputy Chairman and former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro as Director-General. The Lagos council includes specialized directorates for legal compliance and diaspora engagement, with a formal inauguration scheduled for September 18 in Ikeja.
