Peter Obi Launches 2027 Presidential Campaign in Onitsha
Peter Obi launched his 2027 presidential campaign in Onitsha, proposing a shift toward a production-driven economy and regional development strategy.
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, officially launched his campaign for the 2027 presidential election during a press conference in Onitsha on Friday. Running with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Obi proposed transitioning Nigeria from a consumption-based economy to one driven by production, specifically prioritizing energy, technology, manufacturing, and agriculture.
Obi outlined a regional development strategy requiring each zone to leverage specific strengths, such as mineral resources in the North-Central and oil and gas in the South-South. His broader platform includes expanding vocational training, improving maternal and child healthcare, and strengthening intelligence gathering to address national insecurity.
During the launch, Obi challenged opposing candidates to defend their records personally rather than using surrogates. He urged Nigerians to reject propaganda rooted in religion or ethnicity in favor of an issue-based campaign.
