India Accuses Pakistan of UN Propaganda and Military Rule
India accused Pakistan of using the United Nations to deflect from domestic failures and human rights violations during a General Assembly committee dialogue.
The Government of India accused Pakistan of utilizing the United Nations to spread propaganda and distract from internal instability during a dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues at the General Assembly's Third Committee.
Raghoo Puri, First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, described the Pakistani administration as a "Form 47 government," a reference to allegations of rigging during the February 2024 general elections. Puri asserted that the Military of Pakistan serves as the country's "real rulers" and claimed the civilian government is unable to override military instructions.
India rejected Pakistani claims regarding Jammu and Kashmir, maintaining the region is an integral part of its territory and demanding the vacation of areas under Pakistani occupation. Puri further contrasted India's multi-religious society with Pakistan's record on minority rights, which he claimed have shrunk dramatically since independence.
