Dan Sullivan Alleges Cheating in Alaska Senate Race

Republican Senator Dan Sullivan accused Democratic opponent Mary Peltola of orchestrating an election cheating scandal during Alaska's November 3 general elections.

Alaska held general elections on November 3, 2026, featuring high-stakes contests for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and the governorship. In the Senate race, incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan faced a challenge from Democrat Mary Peltola, whose victory would mark the first Indigenous woman elected to the chamber and potentially shift control of the U.S. Senate.

During the voting process, Sullivan alleged a major election cheating scandal, claiming the Peltola campaign recruited a spoiler candidate with the same name as his to mislead voters. Peltola denied these allegations. The gubernatorial race to succeed term-limited Mike Dunleavy featured Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins and three Republicans, including Bernadette Wilson, who received an endorsement from President Donald Trump.

Beyond the candidate races, voters decided on Ballot Measure 2, a proposal to repeal the state's ranked-choice voting system in favor of party-run primaries. The Alaska Division of Elections noted that while initial results were expected Tuesday night, final unofficial results for close races could take until November 18 due to absentee ballot counting and the ranked-choice tabulation process.
