Global EV Sales Rise 9 Percent in July

Global electric vehicle sales grew 9 percent year-over-year in July to 1.85 million units, driven by strong European demand despite declines in China and North America.

Global electric vehicle sales increased for the fifth consecutive month in July, rising 9 percent year-over-year to 1.85 million units. According to data from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, this growth brought total year-to-date volumes to 11.5 million vehicles.

Regional performance diverged sharply. European sales surged 33 percent to 450,000 units, a trend supported by subsidy schemes in Britain, France, and Germany. In contrast, sales in China fell 5 percent to 980,000 vehicles as Chinese automakers shifted their growth strategies toward exports.

North American sales plummeted 27 percent to 140,000 units. This decline followed the removal of federal electric vehicle tax credits in the United States.
