Samsung May Raise Galaxy S27 Prices Due to AI Costs
Samsung Electronics may increase Galaxy S27 prices by approximately $100 due to rising component costs and new hardware specifications.
Samsung Electronics is reportedly planning price increases for its upcoming Galaxy S27 smartphone lineup, according to leaks from South Korean sources and the social media site Naver. Base models may see a price hike of approximately KRW 130,000, or roughly $100, while the Galaxy S27 Ultra could start at $1,399 or $1,400.
The company may also implement a steeper rate of increase for storage upgrades. While previous increments were $100, the gap between configurations could rise to $200, potentially pushing the 1TB Galaxy S27 Ultra toward a $2,000 price point. These increases are attributed to a chip shortage and rising component costs driven by AI demand, specifically the transition to more expensive LPDDR6 RAM.
Hardware leaks indicate the S27 Ultra will weigh 218 grams while maintaining a thickness of 7.9mm. This weight increase is linked to the addition of magnets for Qi2 wireless charging and a 5,700 mAh silicon carbon battery. Although reports originated in South Korea, analysts suggest similar pricing trends could emerge in the United States and Europe when the series launches in early 2027.
