Kia Launches EV2 Electric SUV with Dual Battery Options

Kia released the EV2 electric SUV featuring two battery configurations and 22kW AC charging to compete in the small electric vehicle market.

Kia released the EV2, a small electric SUV designed to compete with the Renault 4 and Jeep Avenger Electric. The vehicle launches with two battery configurations: a Standard Range model with a 41kWh battery providing 195 miles of range, and a Long Range version with a 58kWh battery offering up to 275 miles. The manufacturer intends to eventually phase out the Standard Range option in favor of the Long Range model.

The EV2 introduces 22kW AC charging to the company's lineup and features a three-screen digital dashboard. While the vehicle received praise for its interior quality, visibility, and range-to-price ratio, it has a smaller boot capacity of 362 litres and an infotainment system that is less responsive than that of the Renault 4.

The entry-level Air trim is positioned as the best value option, as it qualifies for a £3,750 government EV grant.
